This is the first official merge day of the old bloomacious.com and the new Bloomacious Digs. As such we’ve moved off our old platform at Typepad and have come over here to Wordpress.org which offers an ever expanding universe of design and function options. In the move I had to disassemble the domain mapping for the old site, in order to forward to this new spot, which of course broke a lot of links. If you’ve followed one and wound up here – note that I’ll be working to move some of the more popular posts from the old site over to this one. But my apologies for the inconvenience in the meantime.
This new blog has a reinvigorated focus on design – interiors, architecture, products, and trends. Also food, recipes, and housekeeping tips that crop up that seem interesting. Hope you like!
Most of the beauty and fashion stories and ideas will be found on our network at Bloomacious Cafe.

I went out yesterday intent on photographing some Fall color here in New England – as well as some Halloween decorations. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t cooperating as well as it could have – it was very stormy but I made it to Essex (on the Connecticut River) and got some shots of some of their doorways and houses.
The cottage above is one of my favorite homes in the area – an antique probably built in the 1800’s it really looks like a mini English estate to me. Yet it’s located right towards the foot of Main Street in Essex. Love the hedges and the large elaborate bird house.

The house below demonstrates how you can indeed decorate for Fall all in white! Love the white pumpkins flanked by white chrysanthemums.

My camera isn’t the best for taking scenery unfortunately, but I thought this shot (above) came out pretty well. It’s the tracks for the Essex Steam Train.

As with everything that the artful duo Eva Milinkovic and Kriston Gene create, their Cell Bowls offer dramatic splashes of color and sensual, organic shape. Their Canadian based glass design house, Tsunami Glassworks is noted for their broad range of pieces for rooms.
With the Cell Bowls collection, some colors yield a sense of calm, such as Cerulean above, while others offer surprising explosions of lava and amber as with the Cherry and Turquoise below. Each is handmade and mouth-blown – sizes and prices: $180 small 6″; $300 medium 9″; $420 large 12″

Whenever Jonathan Adler comes out with a new product – which is about every week or so – I always really enjoy the section that he sets aside on his website displaying his recent interior design projects.
Today’s fab product is his ingenious Room Diffusers (photo bottom) which are shaped much like his iconic vases – which in fact are his iconic vases (in bud vase size) with the addition of some gorgeous room fragrances – Southampton Green Garden and Acapulco Red Currant and some diffusing reeds. Great way to update and make multipurpose an everyday product.
While I was taking in all the hipness (and the amazing Barbie Doll products) I noticed this gorgeous interior that Jonathan created in New York. Adore the fun eclecticism and strong use of color.

While the mailbox is filling up with weighty September issues, the fall decorating catalogs are also coming in. Pottery Barn’s is all about simple decorating ideas. What caught my eye were these interesting green Wine Bottle Chandeliers ~ I could see these in a number of spots in my house. Each is handcrafted of iron and “repurposed” wine bottles complete with cork stoppers to give a custom look, but sells for a relatively thrifty $399. Measures 18″ in diameter by 33″ tall.

Amy Adams cooks up a storm in her current film, Julie & Julia ~ but in truth the actress’ busy schedule precludes such culinary adventurism. But according to the September issue of Glamour, Amy is a wiz at Guacamole and Chips! She recommends adding a shot of tequila to really perk this recipe up.

Amy Adams Guacamole
3 avocados
1/2 fresh jalapeno pepper with seeds removed, finely chopped
1 tomatillo, husked, chopped
1/2 tomato, chopped into 1/4 inch cubes
Handful of cilantro
Juice of 1 lime
Pinch of red pepper flakes
Salt & Pepper to taste
Blue Chips (or your favorite variety)
Mash avocados in a bowl for a fork, stir in remaining ingredients. Serve with chips.

Swedish wallpaper company DecorMaison is introducing their Oasis collection of wallcoverings this fall. Part of the promotion for the line includes this clever series of photos featuring vintage camping trailers all done up as cute as a button (with one wall removed so we can really get into the interiors). A nifty idea matched to what looks like a really spirited and inventive collection.
