This is a little delight perfect for a Fall weekend that you should try.  It’s almost ridiculously easy and takes just a few ingredients.  If you want to jazz it up you can add a bit of Vanilla or Almond extract to the egg mixture.

Carrie’s Uber Easy Baked Custard

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of organic milk
  • 2 large cage free eggs
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Dash ground cinnamon
  • Dash ground nutmeg

Method:

  • Place milk, eggs, sugar and salt in a medium bowl and whisk until frothy (about a minute).  Pour into four medium sized custard cups; sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Place cups in a baking pan that will accommodate them easily and pour hot water into the pan so that it covers about an inch up the sides of the custard cups.
  • Place on middle rack and bake in preheated 350° oven for about 45 minutes.  A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean. Cool on a wire rack.  Fabulous warm or chilled.

Yummy! This looks so good!
I’ve never baked a custard before – if I overbake it, will it ruin the texture?

I think if you overbake it would make it a bit hard – be sure that the water doesn’t evaporate and keep an eye on it – it will be great!

This looks like a great treat when you don’t want to go all out, but want to make a little something. Love the idea!
